 本片是同一故事第三度重拍的版本。此片將好萊塢的背景改成今日的搖滾樂(lè)壇，男主角原是著名的搖滾樂(lè)歌手，而女主角則在小型夜總會(huì)賣(mài)藝。影片中有不少熱門(mén)插曲，部分片段的鏡頭和表演都不俗，但整體則顯得有點(diǎn)矯揉造作，角色欠缺真正的生命感，不過(guò)娛樂(lè)性還是維持相當(dāng)水準(zhǔn)。本片曾獲奧斯卡最佳電影插曲金像獎(jiǎng)。

　　本片為邵氏一部很經(jīng)典的早期恐怖作品,導(dǎo)演孫仲把一個(gè)普通的冤鬼復(fù)仇的故事拍得百轉(zhuǎn)千回扣人心弦.不光極盡恐怖驚悚邪異奇幻之能事,還幾乎都是打著諷喻人世間情仇愛(ài)恨的招魂幡做警示恒言,這也增加了影片在故事上的可看度以及現(xiàn)實(shí)感.本片掛靠著尸變,紅衣厲鬼,僵尸的元素上演了一段復(fù)仇戲碼,小鎮(zhèn)就幾乎像是當(dāng)時(shí)香港社會(huì)的縮影
