心中的惡魔

The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart. Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory? n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in. What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired. One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places. Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.
蛤蟆博士
金乃千,王若荔,耿曉璐,孫慕華,趙春常,金康民,俞旺昊,劉育華,羅啟,林征,顧迪芬,張炎,劉冠雄,謝曉黎1961年春天，中國科學院上海生物研究所傳開了一條震驚生物界的消息：世界上第一只沒有外祖父的癩蛤蟆出世了，人工單性生殖實驗成功了！就在大家都沉浸在喜慶的氣氛中的時候，一個驚人噩耗又使人們陷入極度的悲痛。因為這項科學奇跡的創造者、著名的生物學家金昱曦博士，連自己的勞動成果都沒有得及看一眼，就被癌癥奪去了生命----他就是電《蛤蟆博士》敘述的主人公金昱曦。金昱曦獻身科學40年，走過了一條艱辛的路。1921年，他遠涉法國勤工儉學，在那里做過翻砂工、修理工，織過地毯，洗過盤子。后來經人介紹給一位法國生物學教授當繪圖員。由于他對生物學的酷愛，一開始工作就表現了特別的熱情與勤奮，因此被冉克教授收為學生，留在身邊。經過10年苦學，他獲得了生物學博士學位。即將退休的老教授把金蟬曦看成自己理想的繼承人，把自己工作了一輩子的實驗室交給了這個前途無限的中國學生。1931年，日寇的鐵蹄踏進了中國土地。遠在異國的金昱曦思念家鄉親人，擔心祖國的命運，他毅然放棄了優越的條件，告別了相處多年的老師，抱著科學救國的壯志，回到廣州中山大學執教。黑暗的舊中國，科學上一片空白。最令金昱曦難以容忍的是反動政府利用偽科學進行反動宣傳，愚弄欺騙人民。當他戳穿這群丑類的真面目的，卻惹來了大禍，親手搞起來的實驗室，毀于警察的棍棒，回國幾年成果的蕩然無存。1935年，金昱曦帶著妻子葉慧珍離開廣州來到上海，繼續他的研究。但是不久，上海淪陷，在日本人統治之下的這個東方大都市，更是雞犬不寧。想出書，書店被封；想教書，人家會來找你的麻煩。這時汪偽南京政府派諸軼明找金昱曦去當漢奸，金昱曦當即嚴詞拒絕。金昱曦走投無路，只得暫時放棄研究，在共產黨人王書超的幫助下，全家躲進了偏僻的山區，在貧窮落后的山村里，教孩子們識字，幫老鄉治蠶病。他靠著對人民的深厚感情，生活著；靠著對事業的信念，堅持著。不但生活了下來，并且還培養了兩個忠實的學生：李鹓和葉嘉林。1948年金昱曦又回到了上海。他向私人借款，獨自辦起了生物研究所。黎明前的上海，通貨膨脹，物價飛漲。貧困威脅著金昱曦。他的妻子葉慧珍既要幫助丈夫搞實驗、繪圖，又要承擔4口之家的生活重擔，終于在光明到來之前，她永遠地離開了這個世界。解放了，金昱曦在巴黎的老同學 陳毅市長 找到了他，請他主持上海生物研究所的研究工作。他僅用了兩年的時間把一直拖了18年的體外發育的實驗做成了。但是，在極左路線的干擾下，金昱曦的基礎科學研究又被迫停了下來。
